| The Bund | ||
| The Bund is a significant attraction and one of most famous destinations worth traveling to in Shanghai. Fifty two buildings with gothic, Romanesque, or baroque styles line the narrow shoreline of the Huangpu River, mixing Chinese and Western architecture. It's also the best place to enjoy the night view of Shanghai. | ||
| Huangpu River Cruise | ||
| The Huangpu River (Huangpu Jiang) is the city's shipping artery both to the East China Sea and to the mouth of the Yangzi River, which the Huangpu joins 29km (18 miles) north of downtown Shanghai. It has also become a demarcating line between two Shanghais, east and west, past and future. On its western shore, the colonial landmarks of the Bund serve as a reminder of Shanghai's 19th-century struggle to reclaim a waterfront from the bogs of this river; on the eastern shore, the steel and glass skyscrapers of the Pudong New Area point to a burgeoning financial empire of the future. The Huangpu's wharves are the most fascinating in China. The port handles the cargo coming out of the interior from Nanjing, Wuhan, and other Yangzi River ports, including Chongqing, 2,415km (1,500 miles) deep into Sichuan Province. | Zhujiajiao ancient town | ||
| Located in a suburb of Shanghai city, Zhujiajiao is an ancient water town well-known throughout the country, with a history of more than 1700 years. Covering an area of 47 square kilometers, the little fan-shaped town glimmers like a bright pearl in the landscape of lakes and mountains. Endowed with another elegant name,'Pearl Stream', the little town is the best-preserved among the four ancient towns in Shanghai. Unique old bridges across bubbling streams, small rivers shaded by willow trees, and houses with courtyards attached all transport people who have been living amidst the hustle and bustle of the modern, big city to a brand-new world full of antiquity, leisure and tranquility. | ||
| The Oriental Pearl Tower | ||
| With a height of 468 meters, the Oriental Pearl Tower ranks the second highest structure in Asia and the fourth highest structure in the world. Located in Pudong's new Area and facing a row of buildings of variegated Western architectures in the Bund across the river, it has become the landmark of Shanghai. With Nanpu and Huangpu Bridge to its left and right sides, respectively, it looks as though two dragons are playing with a pearl. Standing on the tower and having a bird's eye view of Shanghai, it will seen as though the entire city is made of building blocks, due to the amazing creativity of the architects. | ||

| The Old City God's Temple | ||
| The Old City God's Temple (Laochenghuangmiao) is a major yet relatively inactive, Taoist temple in Shanghai. It is located in the area south of Yan'an Road on the Fangbang Zhong Road. During the Ming Dynasty, Zhangshouyue, the head of Shanghai County, dedicated a temple to the local city god. Since then, the City God's Temple has been destroyed several times and the current temple was built in 1926. During the the war of resistance against Japanese invasion during World War II, local merchants built a new City God's Temple in the Foreign Concession (between Lianyun Road and West Jinling Road). That area is now a high-rise residence building. The "former" temple is known as the Old City God's Temple. The Old City God's Temple and the enclose Yuyuan are not only famous tourist sites but also popular shopping attractions. There are boutiques, shops selling local specialties, as well as large jewelry stores, department stores and fabulous local snack restaurants to be found here. | ||
